The program generates information and analyses from critical feminist perspectives on trade, finance, international cooperation / aid, and economic globalization processes, in support of economic policy alternatives and democratic & accountable governance institutions. A special concern is focused on promoting the analyses, advocacy and mobilizing capacities of women’s movements and other social movements and people’s organizations for economic and political re-structuring and social transformation at local, regional and global arenas. The program collaborates with individuals and institutions associated with the International Association for Feminist Economics (IAFFE).

 Activities Include:

 a)    Providing the secretariat base for the Development Alternatives with Women for a New Era (DAWN) and through consultations, training, and publication work, supporting other economic oriented networks in the region, such as, International Gender & Trade Network-Asia, Agribusiness Action Initiatives-Asia

b) Conducting region-wide economic policy-relevant studies and information exchanges informed by gender perspectives and feminist economics such as, the impact of the financial crisis on women in the East Asian and greater Asia region; liberalization of the health care sector in the ASEAN; impact of trade liberalization and regional economic integration on women in the ASEAN, etc.

c) Collaborating with feminist organizations, NGOs, networks and women’s/social movements in the Philippines and the region in inter-movement dialogues and political debates on economic and political issues, and joining local and regional advocacies launched by civil society organizations in the Asia-Pacific region.
