Summer Institute on Migration (April 26-May 1, 2010)
SIM aims to provide a critical overview of the migration process, dynamics, issues and challenges. The training will utilize interdisciplinary and case study approaches and will focus on migration, globalization and development; gender analysis of migration; human rights and migration laws and polices of sending and receiving countries; remittances and the governance of migration.
The course is most useful for those in the forefront of migration issues; frontline government officials (in Labor, Foreign Affairs, Social Welfare and Development Department); as well as LGU officials;graduate students; NGO's, and community leaders, among others.
Course Content: Migration Overview; Gender Perspectives on Migration; Human Rights and Migration; Comparative Policies on Migration; Forced Migration; Migration, Diaspora and Identity; Special topics on migration such as health, trafficking, etc.
Course Methodology: Lecture discussion, sharing of best practices, open forum, case study analysis, group workshop and presentation, study visit / exposure trip

International participants:
US$ 400 for on-site registration
US $ 350 for payment made on or before April 15, 2010
